Scavenger Hunt/Treasure Hunt Party
A Scavenger Hunt party is one that will be talked about for years to come. But be aware traditional scavenger hunts are a lot of work.
Invitations
- Store-bought invitations for this event will suffice.
- Attach a small, toy magnifying glass to each one.
Attire
- Hand out Sherlock Holmes-type or Safari-type hats, magnifying glass, notepad, and pencil to each guest.
Decorations
- In this case, the decorations are here simply to elude a party, not to set the ambience.
- Basic party decorations and favors; balloons, streamers, confetti, party hats, party plates, napkins, cups, etc.
Activities
- The scavenger/treasure hunt is the game/entertainment.
- Hide small gifts like candy and toys or small (travel size) toiletries, perfume, and candles.
- Keep children's age (mental capacity) and height in mind when hiding toys. For younger, smaller children, items should be hidden at or below eye level and in an easily recognized manner.
- Traditional scavenger hunts require the use of several homes, at which the child can only get one item of the list from there.
- Requires many adults to supervise, drive, help cross the street, etc.
- Supervision is key. One adult guardian per four children is recommended.
Food
- Order pizza, or serve Bagel Bites (mini pizzas).
- Chips and dip.
- Veggie platter.
- Cookies and/or brownies.
- Birthday cake.
