Fourth of July
Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, has always been a cause for celebration. Most often, a bar-b-que or a block party is held, and fireworks (if city allows them) are displayed. Make your party memorable by following these instructions.
Invitations
- Write party details on a small American Flag.
- Cut out pictures of a fireworks show and write party details on them. Make color copies.
Attire
- Hand out flags to each guest.
- (Optional) have guests wear flag-themed clothing.
Decorations
- Traditionally, Fourth of July parties are usually bar-b-ques. A block party is also a great idea.
- Depending on the location, purchase flags, banners, streamers, plates, napkins, cups, plastic-ware, balloons, etc, all in patriotic colors and themes, and display.
Activities
- The event itself is the entertainment. Guests will enjoy the company of others while they eat, drink and be merry.
- Dominoes, cards, board games, water balloon toss, etc.
- The fireworks show is the main event. Host party near one (on a beach or at a park that is conducting one).
Food
- Potluck-style.
- Have guests each bring a dish for the bar-b-que.
- It may be best to have them RSVP, so you know what is needed and what to have them bring. You do not want seven dishes of baked beans.
- The potluck will work for a bar-b-que at your house or at a block party.
Party Tip: Block parties require approval by the city in which the event will be held, and in most cases signed consent of each neighbor on the block and/or two-block radius. Keep this in mind to allow adequate planning time.
