Beach Party
A Beach Party is a great way to kick-off or end the summer.
Invitations
- Using colorful construction paper, make a beach ball. Write the party details on the lines that separate the colors.
- Purchase sand and bottles that close with a cork, like a message bottle. Print party details on a thin sheet of paper, and roll the paper up. Place inside bottle.
Attire
- Beachwear, swimsuits, cover-ups.
Decorations
- Because the party is at the beach, not much is needed. You can have a few tiki torches with balloons tied to them to mark the location.
- Lay out beach towels for your guests.
- A large tent is also a nice idea, to provide shade.
- A tent with netting surrounding it is suggested for the food table.
Activities
- Play music.
- Play volleyball.
- Hold a sandcastle contest.
- Play limbo.
- At night, hold a bonfire and make smores.
Food
- Bar-b-que sausage, chicken, ribs and hot dogs.
- Prepare vegetable "boats" by wrapping up your choice vegetable medley in foil. Add water, lemon pepper, and a pinch of salt. Try yellow squash, zucchini, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli.
- Bar-b-que fresh, white corn (if in season) in the husk. At home, boil corn in water and 1 tablespoon butter for about 30 minutes. Then bar-b-que for 30 minutes at the beach.
- Green salad.
- Sliced watermelon.
- Strawberry shortcakes. Slice strawberries, add water and sugar (optional) and let sit in a dish overnight. When ready to serve, place a heaping spoonful on top of store-bought shortcake disks or pound cake, add whipped cream to top.
Party Tip: Add some flair to your menu. Bar-b-que different entrees such as, crab, shrimp and fish.
