Baptism
For Christians, a Baptism is performed to formally present a child to God, and set and bind the individuals who will be the God-parents. It is also a time to dedicate a child's life to God and receive His blessings.
A Baptism may also be performed once the individual has decided to accept Christ as their eternal Lord and Savior, and walk in His path. In this case, it is a symbol of that individual being "washed by the Blood of Christ", and being made pure.
